Child protection

Compliance to recommended child protection systems and procedures

Rationale

Lord Laming's inquiry into the death of Victoria Climbie stated that within the NHS, the organisational systems were not in place to ensure continuity of care or adequate consultant supervision. Child protection is a highly emotive subject, evoking strong feelings in all of us. In order to provide the most effective support and help for vulnerable children, young people and their families, all staff managing services and involved in working directly with children and young people need to be able to acknowledge their feelings and examine their values and beliefs.
